“The bastard son of Jim Morrison and Desi Arnaz." Boy George
Born and raised New Zealander, now based in London, UK, Jollands first surfaced under the name El Hula, attracting two unlikely champions: David Bowie and Boy George, who released his work on the More Protein label.
“Exceptional big-soul stuff. This years Rufus Wainwright at least” UNCUT
Jollands pens his songs as a call to arms to seize the day. He himself had to shift his relationship with time after a tick bite left him battling Lyme disease. Years of living at burned out speed gave way to a period of reassessment. Then came his critically acclaimed LP 7Blood marking the end to that chapter in his journey. What changed in the songs then was the urgency to communicate visceral honesty and emotion, that we all seek so much of now more ever before, at every opportunity.
“Jollands captures Presleys souther gospel melodrama. No small achievement for one born 12,000 miles from Memphis” The Guardian
Jollands’ up&coming new LP ‘Crash Presley’ , out January 2027 is a bold, dystopian jazz / rock concept album personifying our fractured geopolitical world through the rise and fall of an imaginary king of rock and roll.
